The Animals:
Bitterbrush Ranch is home to cows, goats, sheep and ducks. All four species are used in both training and trialing. Instinct testing is mostly conducted using goats and young dogs generally start learning herding basics with goats. As dogs progress, the other species are introduced depending on the ability of the dog and handler and/or the desire of the owner.
The livestock are protected from predators by Guardian dogs. These dogs stay with the group of animals they protect as a full-time member of the flock or herd.
The resident cat patrols the ranch, hunting for vermin.
